About Us
The Intentional Living Project is a social enterprise and not a charity organisation. It is a profit-generating business that serves not just to make money but also to make an impact in the lives of the beneficiaries in the community where we are going to be operating from. We will have our headquarters in Abuja – FCT and will in a tactful and unique way, help develop and build strong healthy routines for groups and individuals in a conscious effort to invest in well-being.
The benefits of this investment help people better deal and manage inevitable difficulties of life and build resilience, enabling them the choice to show up as better developed versions of themselves at every step in the unpredictable journey of life. We aim to establish the third sustainable development goal (SDG goal 3) of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. Mental well-being, in general, is the state of thriving in various areas of life, such as in relationships, at school, work, play, and more, despite ups and downs. It’s the knowledge that we are separate from our problems and the belief that we can handle those problems. (Peterson, 2021).
Good mental well-being is about feeling good and functioning well, it is also important for our physical health, and for helping us achieve the goals we set for ourselves, it is about living in a way that is good for you and good for others around you. Feelings of contentment, enjoyment, confidence, engagement with the world around you, self-confidence, and self-esteem are all part of mental well-being. While good mental well-being does not mean that a person never experiences feelings or situations that are difficult, it focuses on how a person thinks, handles emotions, acts and bounces back from those experiences. These traits, which are all skills, are vital life components that can be practised, honed, and developed.
Vision
The Intentional Living project aims to make well-being accessible in our targeted community (A community that has full access to well-being)
Mission statement
In a tactful and unique way, The Intentional Living Project (ILP) helps develop and build strong healthy routines for groups and individuals in a conscious effort to invest in well-being.
Principles
We will be involved in providing wellbeing support through these four guiding principles:
Connect
Pulling together existing establishments, organisations, projects and programmes in a way that is receptive and accessible to the target audiences; as well as the intended sponsors of the project. Through these collaborations and partnerships, we aim to create and become a hub for mental well-being in our community ural environment.
Encourage
Supporting through encouragement and facilitation of set activity plans, workshops, toolkits, retreats, and summits.
Change
Changing lifestyles and mind-sets by educating and raising awareness through our platforms, physically and online; website, social media channels, podcast, campaigns and public events.
Sustain
Develop a sustainable framework for advancing a mutual concept of well-being; integrating aspects of improving individual mental well-being correlated with improving the well-being of other members of society and the natural environment.
Goals and Objectives
With a distinct emphasis on the 5 main components of mental well-being, The Intentional Living Project focuses on pulling together resources in an effort to create and deliver workshops and activities that encourage communities, individuals or colleagues to:
Connect
Connect with the people around them: family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Spend time developing the relationships that nurture them. Maintaining emotionally healthy relationships
Be Active
You don’t have to go to the gym. Take a walk, go cycling or play a game of football. Find an activity that one enjoys and make it a part of one’s life. Being active, enjoying the outdoors and having a healthy, balanced diet all impact how we feel. Also, getting rid of bad habits like smoking, and cutting down on alcohol and caffeine can have a positive effect on our mood.
Keep Learning
Learning new skills in an enjoyable way can give one a sense of achievement and a new confidence. Cooking courses, first aid training etc. From enjoying a favourite hobby, learning something new or simply taking time to relax, it’s important to do things that make one happy. Learning from professionals in different relevant fields from physical health and mental well-being also builds the knowledge needed to build momentum in doing better to be better all round.
Give to Others
Even the smallest act can count, whether it’s a smile, a thank you or a kind word. Larger acts, such as volunteering at a local school, hospital or orphanage, can improve one’s mental well-being and help one build new social networks.
Our Programs
The strains of the modern workplace environment can be detrimental to both physical and mental well-being. Inactivity, stress, and burnout are now major concerns costing both the professional and the company.
